A Centre Igoboro Area Court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, has sentenced a 38-year-old man, Olawale Samuel, to six months imprisonment for stealing a he-goat.
The convict, a resident of Amulegbolola Compound, Ogbomoso, Oyo state, was dragged to court on a one-count charge of ‘being in possession’, contrary to section 319 of the penal code law.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), the matter was reported at ‘C Division’ by one Ibrahim Yusuf, a community police volunteer.
“When you were questioned on how you came about the goat, you confessed that you stole it at Geri-Alimi Area, Ilorin and you brought it to Oja-Oba for sale with the goat recovered in your possession,” the charge sheet added.
Inspector Oderinde Abideen prosecuted the case on behalf of the police.
In his judgement, the trial judge, A.Y Ameenullahi sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment with an option of N20 fine.
