Man jailed 4 months for stealing 7 measures of beans, palm oil

An area court in Jos on Wednesday sentenced a 20-year-old labourer, Christopher Mashingil, to four months in prison for shop breaking and stealing foodstuff.

The convict was, however, given an option of N30,000 fine, and also ordered to pay N30,000 compensation to the complainant.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the accused broke into the complainant’s shop and stole seven measures of bean, palm oil, crates of soft drinks and other foods items, including a gas cylinder and a plasma television, all valued at N172,000. (NAN)
