TA 37-year-old man, Etim Godwin, was on Friday sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by an Oredo magistrates’ court for stealing cable wire, valued at N1.5 million.
The presiding chief magistrate, Evelyn Edokpayi, did not give the convict a fine option.

The prosecutor, ASP Violet Soyemi, had earlier told the court that the convict of No 20, Ikpoba Slop, Benin, committed the offence on February 10 at Ihama Road, GRA, Benin.
The prosecutor further told the court that the property belonged to one Mr Osayamen Airhunmwande of No. 64 Egbiayubini Cresent GRA, Benin.
The convict pleaded guilty to the one count charge of stealing after the charge was read to him.
Chief magistrate Edokpayi sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment with no option of fine.
