Man in police custody for strangling wife

The Gombe State Police Command yesterday paraded a 21-year-old man, Babangida Mohammed, of Zenge village in Kaltungo LGA for killing his wife.

Parading suspects before newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, Ishola Babaita, said Mohammed was reported at the Awak Division on June 12, by parents of the deceased who accused him of killing their daughter, Fatsuma Babangida.

“The parents said that Mohammed, on June 6, strangled Fatsuma to death and buried her at a cemetery without informing them of her death.”

The CP also said the command arrested one Ishaku Yila Manaseh (44), a personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), for stabbing to death one Mela Andrews (30) of Awai Quarters in Billiri LGA.

He said Manaseh, on June 10, stabbed the Andrews on his chest over a minor argument at a drinking joint in Billiri town.

Our correspondent reports that the police boss paraded 11 others, mostly youths, over offences ranging from criminal conspiracy to attempted kidnapping.
