A Kano State Sharia court has sentenced a man, Imrana Ibrahim, to three months in prison for robbing a female student of her phone with a sharp knife in the Brigade area of Nassarawa LGA.
The suspect was arrested by vigilantes and youths and handed over to the police.
The accused pleaded guilty when the offence was read out to him by the prosecutor, Aliyu Abidin Murtala.
The Khadi, Mallam Nura Yusuf Ahmed, therefore sentenced him to three months in a correctional facility.

Similarly, the court sentenced a man, Basiru Yusuf, popularly known as Kafinta, to two and half years in prison over fraudulent activities.
The accused, a resident of Aujarawa village in Gezawa LGA, was charged with receiving the sum of N500,000 from a POS operator through a transfer while he gave in return cash in a black nylon which happened to be pieces of paper.
The prosecutor, Murtala, told the court that Kafinta first received the sum of N150,000 and asked the POS operator to keep the money before he returned with another cash then that he would receive the entire transfer and used the opportunity to run away, leaving the fake money.
He said the suspect’s account was tracked and he was apprehended by the police.
The Khadi, Mallam Ahmed, sentenced him to two years in prison for the first offence with an option of N60,000 fine. On the second offence, he was sentenced to six months in prison with the option of paying N10,000 fine while ordered to return the money to the owner; plus N50,000 spent on legal processes
