Man electrocuted while trying to steal transformer cables

A man has been electrocuted while allegedly attempting to steal cables from a transformer on Awolowo Way in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

Benjamin Hundeyin, police spokesman in the state, said, “A police inspector who was on guard duty at a company on Awolowo Way reported that a man climbed a gate by the side of a PHCN transformer in an attempt to vandalise same but was electrocuted and he fell into the compound.

“The suspect died on the spot. Anti-crime policemen visited the scene. They contacted the PHCN office in the area while the body of the deceased was removed and deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.”
