A 26-year-old man, Olamilekan Olubusade, on Monday drowned at the Alpha Beach in Lagos while swimming with his friends.
The police spokesman in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the body was yet to be recovered.

Hundeyin explained that the elder brother of the deceased, Ayorinde Olubusade, reported the case to the police at about 2pm that his younger brother, Olamilekan, of Igbo Efon area, Ilasan, Lagos, went to the Alpha Beach, Igbo Efon, to swim with his friends.
Hundeyin said, “Ayorinde said his younger brother drowned at the beach and that all effort to trace him proved abortive.
“The police visited the scene and there is currently a search and rescue operation by marine police and local divers with a view to recovering the body. Investigation is in progress.”
In another development, a 42-year-old pedestrian, Kareem Moshood, was knocked down and killed on Monday while crossing the road at Agogo Igbala Bus Stop on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
He said the driver of the Toyota Highlander which kocked Moshood, Abiodun Rasheed, had been detained. (NAN)
