An 18-year-old man, Amir Khamal, has drowned inside a pond popularly known as Ruwan Talamiz in Gunduwawa area of Gezawa LGA of Kano State.
The incident happened on Wednesday while the victim was swimming.

Spokesman of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, said their men arrived the scene of the incident immediately after receiving an emergency call and rescued the boy unconscious, but that he later died.
Mr Abdullahi said, “Our formation received an emergency call at about 14:00pm from one Ibrahim Burga Gunduwawa.
“When our men reached the area, popularly known as Ruwan Talamiz, they found that a man of about 18 years by name Amir Khamal fell inside a pond.
“The victim was rescued unconscious but was later confirmed dead. His body was handed over to his father.’’
