The Ekiti State police command has arraigned a 33-year-old man, Ganiyu Kehinde, for allegedly conspiring with others to break into a shop and steal.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court on Tuesday that the defendant and seven others at large, on February 22, 2021, conspired and broke into the shop of one Lawal Oluwaseyi at No. 2, Ijigbo area, Ado-Ekiti and stole some phone accessories valued at N1,087,000.00, as well as damaged some property valued at N887,000.00.

According to the prosecutor, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Vol.1 laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2012, Section 413 and Section 415 of the Criminal Code cap C16 Vol. 1 laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
Counsel of the defendant, Toyin Oluwole, urged the court to grant the accused bail in liberal terms.
The magistrate, Mrs Adefunmike Anoma, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum, who must be resident within Ado-Ekiti, with a verifiable address, and adjourned the case to March 12, 2021.
