Kano State Fire Service says it has opened an investigation into the death of a 20-year-old man, Safiyanu Mustapha, who fell and died in a pond.
The spokesman of the service, Saidu Muhammad, said a distress call was received from Gaida village in Kumbotso LGA of the state at 07:50 am through M. Kabiru Hashimu who intimated the service of the development.
“Our officers were mobilised to the scene of incident and arrived at about 08:02 am hours and discovered that the victim fell inside a pond.
“He was rescued unconscious and later confirmed dead. The corpse has since been handed over to the village head of Chalawa, Alhaji Yahaya Zangina for burial,” Muhammad added.
He said the cause of the incident was still under investigation.
