A 45-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Benue State for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s three-year-old daughter in Gboko Local Government Area of the state.
The unmarried suspect, Kalu Agwu, a businessman from Abia State but resident in Gboko, has however blamed his unhealthy action on the devil.
Agwu, who was paraded at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Makurdi, confessed to have committed the crime because of influence of satanic power that overwhelmed him then.
He told newsmen that the minor came to his room and that while playing with her, certain sensation forced him into having carnal knowledge of her.
The suspect claimed to have realised what he did after the crime was committed, adding that he was pleading with the child’s parents to forgive him.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the police in the state, DSP Catherine Anene, said the command will ensure diligent prosecution of the suspect and advised parents and care-givers to always pay attention on their children or wards particularly the girl-child.
