A suspect identified as Okonkwo Chinuzor of Obe in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State has allegedly killed his lover, Nkemakonam Chinweuba Onovo, over a misunderstanding which reportedly ensued between the two concerning a yet to be established matter.
Enugu State Police Command spokesman, DSP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a statement he issued in Enugu on Tuesday.
He said the incident took place on on Sunday, December 9, at Obe in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu state when the suspect Okonkwo Chinuzor allegedly hit his 48-year-old lover, Nkemakonam Chinweuba Onovo, with a wooden frame following what he called a slight provocation .
Amaraizu explained that the impact of the wooden frame on Onovo’s head left her unconscious, as she was later confirmed dead after she was rushed to the hospital .
The PPRO said that Onovo’s corpse has since been deposited at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) mortuary at Ituku/Ozalla Enugu for autopsy while the arrested suspect is helping the operative in their investigation.
