Man charged with foodstuff theft in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a 42-year-old man, Ojo Oluwatosin, before a magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged shop breaking and theft.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the defendant and one other person (at large), on June 28, at about 2am, in the Moferere area in Ado-Ekiti, broke and entered a food store belonging to one Adaramola Oluwatosin and stole foodstuffs valued at N761,550.

The prosecutor further told the court that the defendant and his accomplice on the same day and in the same area broke into another provision shop belonging to one Omolara Seun and stole goods valued at N53,900.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Olawumi Olowolafe, urged the court to grant him bail.

The Magistrate, Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and adjourned the case to August 1.
