The police in Ekiti State have arraigned a 29-year-old man, Olumide Michael, before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court over alleged illegal possession of Indian hemp.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant on April 20 at about 8pm in Ido-Ekiti had in his possession weeds suspected to be hemp contrary to Section 5(b) of the Indian Hemp Act LFN 2004.
Counsel to the defendant, Iyanu Olumuagun, urged the court to grant his client bail.

The Magistrate, Olarewaju Owoleso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to May 20.
