A 25-year-old man, Hassan Isiyaku, was on Monday arraigned in a Kado area court, Abuja, for allegedly snatching a cell phone and N10,000 cash at a bus stop.
The prosecutor, Charity Samuel, told the court that the complainant, Adamu Abdullahi, reported that the defendant and his accomplices surrounded him at a bus stop in Utako, Abuja, and snatched his mobile phone and N10,000 cash.
She added that while the defendant was caught trying to escape from the scene and the phone recovered from him, his two accomplices escaped with the cash.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Muhammed Wakili, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 and a surety in like sum and adjourned the case to March 23.
In a related development, an Ota magistrates’ court in Ogun State on Monday sentenced a 38-year-old man, Iruka Onyeckachi, to three months in prison for stealing N90,000 cash and a handbag.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Adeyemi, however, gave the convict an option of N2,000 fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp E. O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant on December 24, 2022, at about 8am in Ota stole the money from the bag of the complainant, Promise Nneomo, before he was apprehended by a Good Samaritan and handed over to the police. (NAN)
