A man, Stephen Bwala, has been arraigned before a magistrates’ court sitting in Wuse, Abuja, on a one-count charge of cheating.
The prosecutor, ASP Umar Mohammed, told the court that sometime in April 2021, the defendant sold a plot of land located in Apo, Abuja, and gave the plaintiff Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) documents, a police extract, an affidavit and power of attorney and collected N4m.
He said during the police investigation it was discovered that all the documents were fake and he was not the right owner of the plot, noting that he confessed to the crime.
Counsel to the defendant sought bail for his client.
The Magistrate, Musa Abubakar Sadeeq, granted him bail in the sum of N2m and two sureties and adjourned the case to June 2.
