Man buries days-old grandson alive in Bauchi

The infant was exhumed upon a report but was certified dead.

A 50-year-old has been arrested in Bauchi for burying his grandson alive.

Bawada Audu is said to have seized the days-old son born to his daughter on September 14 and buried him alive behind their home in Rimin Zayam village in Toro local government area of Bauchi.

The Command Public Relation Officer DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakili who disclosed this in a statement said that Audu was arrested during a joint operation between the police and a human rights group.

Hafsat Bawada, 17, of Rimin Zayam, Toro LGA reported the case to  Divisional Headquarters Toro.

She was said to have given birth to a son on September 14.

Her father seized the child and buried him behind their home.

The body was exhumed upon a report and rushed to General Hospital, where the baby was certified dead.

Hafsat named Danjuma Malam Uba of the same address to have raped earlier this year before going missing.
