A man, Abdulkarim Zakaria, has been arraigned before a Kano Shari’a Court sitting in Sharada for allegedly inflicting serious injuries on his breastfeeding wife for attempting to open their store to get food to cook for the family.
When the charges were read to the suspect, he pleaded not guilty and insisted that he found his wife using metal pestle to forcefully open his room.
The wife, Bilkisu Abdullahi, told the court that despite being a nursing mother, her husband has been denying her food to eat, which informed her decision to forcefully open the storage to get what to eat with her children.
She said her husband beat her to a pulp and used the metal pestle to inflict grievous injury to her eyes, which was witnessed by some people in their neighbourhood, promising to present her witnesses.
