Man beats 72-year-old niece’s lover to coma in Yobe

A 63-year-old man, Adamu Sai Baba, has allegedly attacked and left a 72-year-old man, Mallam Manu Dogari, in a coma for courting his niece, Adama, in Ngelzarma town in Fune LGA of Yobe State.

Mallam Manu Dogari, who was a guard in the Ngelzama emir’s palace, was attacked by the uncle of Adama whom he intended to marry soon.

It was learnt that the incident happened when Sai Baba was passing by and saw Dogari with his niece engaging in a conversation.

A witness said when the Sai Baba saw them, he went back home, returned and hit Dogari on the head.

The witness explained that before then, Dogari expressed desire to Adama, a widow, but that Sai Baba objected to the idea.

He noted that despite Sai Baba’s objection, Dogari remained resolute.

He further said, “During Dogari’s last visit to see Adama, her uncle armed himself with a hoe and a knife and launched a brutal assault on him, leaving him unconscious. The victim was rushed to the specialist hospital in Damaturu.”

The spokesman of the Yobe State Police Command, Dungus Abdulkareem, while confirming the incident, noted that the incident happened at Angwan Sarki, Sabon Gari, Ngelzarma, and that the suspect had been arrested.
