Man bags 6 months jail, 30 lashes for snatching phones

A Kano State Shari’a court sitting in Kwana Hudu has sentenced one Naziru Abubakar to six months in prison for snatching his neighbour’s phones and pushing her to the ground.

The Judge, Nura Yusuf Ahmad, also ordered that the convict should receive 30 lashes of the cane.

Earlier, Abubakar was charged with snatching two phones valued at N80,000 from a housewife and pushing her to the ground in the Gayawa area of Ungogo LGA.

When the prosecution counsel, Aliyul Abidin, read the charges against him, he pleaded guilty, and also pleaded with the court to make its final judgment considering Section 350 of the ACJL.

Judge Ahmad, aside the six months in prison without option of fine and 30 lashes handed to the convict, also ordered him to pay N50,000 for one of the missing phones.
