An Igoboro area court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has sentenced a 38-year-old man, Olawale Samuel, to six months imprisonment for stealing a goat.

Samuel, a resident of Amulegbolola Compound, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, was dragged to court on a one-count charge of “being in possession of a stolen item”.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the matter was reported by one Ibrahim Yusuf, a police volunteer.

The FIR reads in part: “When you were questioned on how you came about the goat, you confessed that you stole it at Geri-Alimi area of Ilorin and brought it to Oja-Oba to sell it.”

Inspector Oderinde Abideen prosecuted the case on behalf of the police.

The Judge, A. Y. Ameenullahi, sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment with an option of N20,000 fine.
