A magistrates’ court in Abeokuta, Ogun State has sentenced a 20-year-old man, Idowu Usman, to three years in prison for shop breaking and stealing foodstuff.
Usman was convicted on a four-count charge of felony, unlawful damage, stealing and unlawful possession of a chisel.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the defendant on February 14, at about 10pm at Adehun Junction on Ayetoro Road in Abeokuta, broke into the shop of one Mrs Bolanle Oyeleye using a chisel to damage the padlock and stole foodstuff valued at N47,530.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. O. Odumosu, sentenced the defendant after he pleaded guilty to the charges.
