The police in the FCT have arrested a man, Muhammad Kabir, for allegedly trying to kidnap his neighbour, Abdulwahab Yusuf, at the Shagari Quarters in Zuba in Gwagwalada Area Council.
City & Crime gathered that the suspect came to the area from Kogi State some months ago and along with three others was squatting in the community’s central mosque with no specific work apart from soliciting alms.
Speaking to our reporter through a phone yesterday, the alleged victim said the suspect chatted with him on the phone around 9pm on Wednesday demanding him to come out of his house for an urgent discussion.
He said, “I tried to avoid the appointment, but he insisted that I should come out because it had to do with my safety.

“I informed a policeman in our neighbourhood and informed some neighbours before coming out. On meeting him, I don’t know whether he noticed my alertness and preparation for any eventuality, he told me that some people came around and showed him my picture, asking him whether he knew me, and further asked him whether he had any other person else who could be abducted, and that he told them no. But I suspected that he had some people on ground to kidnap me before he changed his mind. So, I reported the matter at the Zuba Police Division on Saturday and he was arrested.”
