Man arrested for stealing 20 cartons of Quran, Hadith in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested one Mustapha Jimoh of Amoyo area in Ifelodun LGA for allegedly stealing 20 cartons of Islamic literature comprising the Quran and traditions of the Prophet (Hadith).

City & Crime gathered that the suspect broke into the personal library of a Saudi Arabia-based scholar, Ustaz Jamiu, to steal the items.

A source said, “When Ustaz Jamiu, a resident of Ganmo, returned home to visit his family, he discovered his library opposite his residence had been burgled. About 20 cartoons of the Quran and Hadith, including other items valued at N2.7m, were discovered to have been stolen.”

Speaking on the development, the spokeswoman of the state command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, saying, “The prime suspect confessed to the crime after his arrest while other accomplices have also been apprehended.”
