A 33-year-old man, Labaran Aliyu of Gidan Bahuri area in Wamakko Local Government of Sokoto State, has been arrested for allegedly duping 15 persons, including a policeman.
The Commander of the Sokoto State Hisbah Commission, Dr. Adamu Bello Kasarawa alleged that the suspect collected the sum of N2.4 million from his victims under the pretext of producing hard currency for them.

According to the Hisbah commander, the victims were from different parts of the country, which were traced by the suspect, as their respective phone numbers were found intact in his phone contact list.
He noted that the policeman (name withheld) currently serves in Kaduna State.
“He used Juju rituals, animal sacrifices, spiritual facemask, and different forms of perfumes to carry out his deceptive and unlawful activities,” Kasarawa said.
Items recovered from the suspect include fake US dollars and Nigerian currency in different denominations among others.
The commander also alleged that the suspect sexually abused three minors at different times and used his mobile phone to record the illicit acts.
“He recorded their sexual acts with his mobile phone which was also recovered,” the commander alleged.
Kasarawa said the suspect was handed over to the police for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
