Man arrested for defiling 7-year-old girl in Ekiti

A 62-year-old man, Sunday Falana, has been arrested for allegedly raping his neighbour’s seven-year-old daughter in the Ilegosi area in Moba LGA of Ekiti State.

The police spokesman in the state, DSP Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect would be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Ado-Ekiti.

Narrating her ordeal, the girl explained that the suspect called her and her elder brother to come and eat rice in his apartment, but later sent her brother away, saying he invited only her for the feast.

She further said, “When he could not, he opened his cupboard and brought out something creamy, which he used to rob my private part before he penetrated me, and told me that I would die if I told anyone.”

The mother of the victim, Funke Awolola, explained that on the day of the incident she was doing some domestic work when her 10-year-old son came back without his sister.

“When I did not see the sister I went straight to the man’s house but he refused to open the door for her.

“When my daughter came back she refused to tell me. But she later told me that Sebukky (suspect) undressed and defiled her. She said he initially put his finger into her private parts and inserted his manhood into her private part.”
