A man, Isiaka Adeniyi (46), has been arrested while attempting to slaughter a 10-year-old pepper seller, Akeem Nurudeen, purportedly for ritual in Ifedapo community in the Oke-Foma area of Ilorin LGA of Kwara State.
It was learnt that the suspect allegedly lured the victim into his room under the pretext of buying pepper from him, covered his face with a cloth and attempted to slaughter him with a knife.
A resident said that it was the shout of the boy that attracted passers-by and the people weaving ‘aso-oke’ close by.
He further said, “He then left the victim and hid inside the room, but people invaded the house from the roof and broke the door, rescued the boy and descended on the suspect and attempted to burn the house. He was subsequently handed over to the police.”
