A 20-year-old man, Adegbite Abayomi, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court over alleged possession of Indian hemp.
The prosecutor, Alice Ojo, told the court that on May 21, around 8pm the defendant was found with five wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp against Section 5(b) of the Indian Hemp Act 1966.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his counsel, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant him bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N25,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to July 6.
