Man arraigned for terrorising Kwara varsity students

The police in Kwara State have arraigned a 25-year-old man, Aliyu Abubakar, for terrorising students of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspect connived with others at large to rob students of the university in their various hostels at gunpoint and stole phones, laptops and other gadgets valued at over N20m.

The FIR reads in part: “Some of the stolen property recovered from him include HP elite book laptop, iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone XR.

“He confessed that he carried out the operation with one Tajudeen Apalando now at large from whose house the police recovered another N10m valued property.”

The prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, told the court that the suspect used weapons such as guns, cutlasses and knives to rob the students.

The Magistrate, Monisola Gbadeyan Kamson, ordered the remand of the suspect and adjourned the case to November 7
