The Ogun State Police Command yesterday arrested 27-year old man, Adam Kunle, for allegedly raping a 38-year old woman who reportedly turned down his advances.
The suspect was arrested following a report by the victim (name withheld) who complained at Ibafo Police Station.
According to the victim, she was sleeping in her room in the afternoon when the suspect who lives in the neighbourhood sneaked into her room and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
A statement issued by the police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said following receipt of the report, the operatives stormed the scene and arrested the suspect.
He said, “On interrogation, the suspect confessed to commission of the crime, but claimed to have been making advances to the victim for quite some time of which the victim has been rejecting his offer.
“He stated further that he took advantage of the lady being the only person at home on that day to have his way with her,” he said.
Oyeyemi said the victim has been taken to the hospital for medical attention and report.
The spokesperson said the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.
