Man allegedly kills woman over witchcraft suspicion in Kwara

A man, Alti Audu (25), has been arraigned over allegedly killing a woman, Zainab Suleiman, his neighbour, over witchcraft suspicion.

According to the police First Information Report (FIR), the suspect attacked the victim in her room in Bode-Saadu over suspicion that she was a witch and responsible for his ailment.

“Investigation revealed that the accused suspected the deceased of being a witch and responsible for his ailment. He confessed that he took his cutlass on the fateful day and matcheted her severally inside her room. The deceased was confirmed dead in the hospital,” the charge sheet read.

Barrister Toyin Onaolapo represented the accused while Emmanuel prosecuted the case.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Dasuki, ordered the remand of the suspect in prison and adjourned the case to July 23.
