She told her mother that it was their neighbour who actually lured her into his one-room apartment and told her to remove her pants.

The victim was taken to Mirabella Medical Center, where it was confirmed that she was defiled.

The matter was reported to the police in the area, and he was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation over his conduct.

The matter was charged to Ogba Chief Magistrate’s Court on the orders of the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi.

The court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie.

The prosecutor asked the court to refer the matter to the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Layinka, ordered his remand at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.

The matter was adjourned till February 14, 2023.
