A 72-year-old man, Musa Abdullahi, has urged a Grade 1 Area Court in Gwagwalada, Abuja, to compel an 18-year-old girl, Rukaiyyat Idris, to refund the N50,200 he spent on her since she rejected his marriage proposal.
Abdullahi, who resides in Baure Anguwar Hausawa in Gwagwalada, told the court that he proposed to Rukaiyyat in June, 2020, and that she accepted to marry him but after some months she denied accepting to marry him.

He told the court that as from June to November, 2020, he spent N50,200 on Rukaiyyat and therefore urged the court to order her to pay him all the money expended on her.
However, the father of the lady, Idris Abdullahi, who was in court alongside his daughter, denied the amount claimed by the complainant, saying he was only aware of N6,000 which he said the complainant gave to him during one of his visits to his house.
Also, Rukaiyyat denied the N50,200 expenses claim by the complainant, saying the complainant gave her a total of N8,000 on different occasions.
The judge, Adamu Isah, adjourned the case to November 25, 2020, to enable the complainant prove his claim of the N50,200 he expended on the lady.
