Man, 71, admits raping 12-year-old girl, awaits court sentence

A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday ordered the remand of a 71-year-old man, Dumashi Sabo, who pleaded guilty to defiling a 12-year-old girl in Lagos

Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya gave the order following a guilty plea entered by Sabo.

Adekomaiya adjourned the case until July 15 for facts and sentencing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Adeosun, said that the defendant committed the offence on July 1, at about 2pm at Zongo, Seme Border, Badagry, Lagos.

Adeosun said that the defendant defiled the girl.

According to the prosecutor, the offence, contravenes the provisions of Sections 261 and 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
