An Edo State High Court sitting in Auchi has sentenced a 61-year-old farmer, Taiwo Buoro, to 10 years imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old girl.
Earlier, the police prosecutor told the court that the accused committed the offence on September 19, 2021 in Ososo community, Akoko-Edo LGA.

After hearing both parties, Justice Philip Imoedemhe held that the prosecution had proved their case beyond reasonable doubt that the accused committed the crime.
He, therefore, sentenced the accused to 10 years imprisonment without the option of a fine.
