Man, 48, charged over damage to house, shop, property

The police in Ekiti State have arraigned a 48-year-old man, Stephen Ibrahim, over alleged malicious damage to a house, shop with some costly drinks worth N2 million.

The Police prosecutor, Inspector Bamikole Olasunkanmi, told the court that the suspect and 10 others now at large on October 3 at about 16:10 hours at Iyan Emirin, off Federal Polytechnic, conspired to maliciously damage the shop and wine.

Inspector Olasunkanmi said the defendants and 10 others on the same date, time and place, conspired and alleged that one Abdulmalik Dauda used one late Stephen Daniel for money ritual.

“The defendant, and others at large, did conduct themselves in a manner that is likely to cause breach of peace,” he said.

Inspector Olasunkanmi noted that the offence committed is contrary and punishable under Section 363, 423, 181(D) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Raphael Joy, urged the court to grant bail to her client, saying he would not jump bail and to provide credible surety.

Magistrate A. H. Anoma, granted bail of N50,000 with one surety of means and adjourned the case to December 19.
