Police authority in Lagos has arrested a 44-year-old man, Daniel Ifeagwu, for allegedly engaging a 12-year-old girl in sexual intercourse.
The police said the man had engaged the girl who happens to be his neighbour’s daughter in sex in the last 20 months.
The police said the man had allegedly threatened to deal ruthlessly with the victim if she recounted her ordeal to anyone, including her parents.
But the bubble busted a few weeks ago when the young girl eventually summoned up courage and reported her pains to her mother.

The matter was eventually reported at Ipaja Police Station, leading to the arrest and detention of the suspect.
He had since been charged before Ogba Magistrates’ Court on a three-count charge of rape, sexual abuse and illicit canal knowledge of the girl.
The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, requested the court to refer the matter to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.
The matter was adjourned till January 17, 2023, for the report of the DPP to be available.
