A chief magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a 40-year- man, Samuel Ayodele, at the correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti, over alleged theft.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade, told the court on Tuesday that on June 9, 2021, at Oke-Ureje Poly road in Ado-Ekiti, the defendant entered the shop of one Adu Annuoluwapo with intent to commit a felony.

He said the defendant stole one Plasma TV set, Startimes decoder, Deck music system, perfume, earrings and necklace, estimated to be N700,000.
The prosecutor said the offence is punishable under sections 411(2) and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Olusegun Ajayi, urged the court to grant bail to his client, saying he would not jump bail.
The defendant’s plea was, however, not taken in court.
The chief magistrate, Mr A.O. Oyebanji, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the correctional centre and adjourned the case to August 25, 2021.
