An Ogba, Lagos, magistrate court on Friday arraigned a 36- year-old man, Frank Nkwopara, for allegedly assaulting and defiling Miss Enehizena Joy Andrew.
The prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, told the court that Nkwopara unlawfully and indecently assaulted 17-year-old Andrew on August 27, 2018 at about 21.30hrs at Ijegun, Lagos.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two charges. In his defence, Nkwopara said that the lady had come into his room on the day to charge her phone since there was no light in the neighbourhood while he had his generator on.
“Joy’s mother, being my neighbour, came shouting the name of her daughter, but Joy told me not to answer her mother nor open the door. After the mother left, Joy went out and her mother started beating her, saying I had had sex with her daughter, which I did not do,” he said.
The magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, adjourned the case to October 3, 2018, for further mention.
