Man, 31, docked for shop rent fraud

A  31-year-old man, Kayode Oyediran, was on Wednesday docked in an Iyaganku magistrates’ court, Ibadan for alleged shop rent fraud.

Oyediran, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with impersonation, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.

The prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, told the court that Oyediran allegedly committed the offence on Feb. 5, at about 11:15am, around Trans Amusement park in Ibadan.

Amusan alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N1 million from  Mariam Akande, under the pretence of renting her a shop.

He also alleged that the defendant falsely introduced himself as a certified estate agent to Akande.

Amusan said the offences contravened sections 484, 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant, however ,pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The magistrate, Mrs O. A. Akande granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Jan. 30, 2023 for hearing. (NAN)
