Detectives from Owode-Onirin Police Station, Lagos State Command, have arrested a 31-year-old man, Johnson Ogunsanya, with a locally fabricated gun.
The suspect is said to be a member of a five-man robbery gang operating along the Ikorodu road.
The police said the suspect and his gang members were on their way to attack travellers on the Ikorodu road when they were first sighted.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest.
Hundeyin said the five young men had allegedly surrounded a broken-down truck in the area and had held the truck driver hostage when the team arrived at the scene.

“As the officers stopped to ascertain what was going on, the young men fled.
“One of them, Johnson Ogunsanya ‘m’ aged 31, was apprehended and found with a locally fabricated firearm.
“Ongoing investigation reveals it was a robbery in progress,” he added.
