A 22-year-old man, Stephen Mbanongn, is facing trial before an Ado-Ekiti chief magistrate court for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo, informed the court yesterday that Mbanongn committed the offence on December 26, 2019 at about 4 pm at Elemi, Iworoko-Ekiti, in Irepodun/Ifelodun local government.
Leranmo alleged that the accused person stole a Tecno LB6 mobile phone valued at N20,000, property of Akande Raphael.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
Mbanongn pleaded not guilty to the one- count charge read to him in court.
His counsel, Mr Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise he would not jump bail.
The chief magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000, with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case till January 27, 2020 for hearing.
