Ahaji Mali Kolomi Gubio, father of Bulama Mali Gubio, Secretary of Borno Elders Forum (BEF) and Chairman of Borno State Civil Service Commission, has died at the age of 107.

The late Gubio, a renowned farmer and trader, died in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, yesterday morning after a protracted illness.

Gubio described the death of his father as a great loss to the entire state.

He said his wise counsel and fatherly advice would be greatly missed by his immediate family and the state in general.

‘‘I want to consider and accept the situation as the will of Allah, knowing that death is inevitable and all living souls will pass through it,” Gubio stated in a statement made available to Daily Trust.

The deceased was believed to be among the oldest centenarians in the state.

He was survived by two wives, many children, grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.
