Mali Coup: AUDA-NEPAD/APRM condemns insecurity in Africa

The African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa’s Development/African Peer Review Mechanism (AUDA-NEPAD/APRM) has condemned the rising spate of insecurity in Africa.

Speaking during a press conference at the ongoing second review held at NEPAD headquarters in Abuja, the National Coordinator/CEO NEPAD Nigeria, Ms Gloria Akobundu, said the lack of responsible governance was responsible for insecurity in the continent.

“We condemn the coup in Mali and every form of insecurity in Africa. All these negate the mandate of APRM and we will continue to demand good and responsible governance in the continent,” she said.

She further stated that “APRM exists with a mandate to encourage the participating states in ensuring that their policies and practices conform to the agreed political, economic and corporate governance values, codes and standards; and to achieve mutually agreed objectives in socio-economic development.”
