Polo Royals report that at the end of two weeks-long contests, Kano polo festival climaxed on a memorable note with Murtala Laushi leading his Jos Malcomines team to clinch the event’s biggest prize, the Emir of Kano Cup, their first ever major Kano polo title.
Pivoted by Argentine top professional, Alejo Aramburo and Asharaf Yahaya “The Little General” and Fernando Munoz Laushi defeated their arch-rivals and defending champions, Kano Lintex/Mar Air opponents in a drama-filled final to emerge champions.
It can also be revealed that Laushi also powered in Miners to edge the Rest Team in the last game of the tournament, to earn the Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Cup an added honour that made him the most successful polo patron in the history of polo in Plateau State.

The prestigious polo fiesta witnessed by first class Emirs, Deputy Senate President Senator Barau and Seyi Tinubu among others, saw Laushi’s second team, Jos Crown Polo team emerging as the surprise winners, carting home the event’s second biggest prize, the Dantata Cup on first attempt.
Host Kano Polo Club which had the largest contingent contesting for all the major titles at stake had Habib Buhari and Sadiq Dantata to thank as their combined Agad/ Rumbu team triumphed in the hotly contested Dangote Cup.
