Making sure your ‘I do’ does not turn to ‘I regret’

Do you listen to your intuition?  That is the little voice that speaks in your head or do you encourage it to speak up. Most of us tend to look down on our intuition. We fail to believe that it is a form of knowledge that tries to tell if something is not going the right direction in our lives. If we can learn to interpret our intuition properly, possibly we can make smarter decisions in life. Our inner voice speaks softly and patiently and will keep repeating the same message several times to us until we finally listen to it. Most times, our inner voice pops into our heads or minds when we least expect and it is our responsibility to listen to it.

We tend to bypass our inner voice and take them for granted. Our intuition is considered as wisdom from within. It is our ability to perceive information that is not obvious in the real sense. Our inner voice are meant to help us and also warn and tell us when something simply does not feel right in any given situation. For sure, there are certain times when our inner voice has told us something and we simply choose to ignore its promptings and at the end regret not taking a cue from our inner voice. Only then will you start saying to yourself, “how I wish I had listened to myself in the first place,” but then, it will be too late because you never paid attention to your inner voice. We are faced with different situations and circumstances in our everyday life which all depends on the decisions we make in trying to tackle them. This is where our inner voice plays a major role by trying to alert us over the smartest decision to take, thinking too much and spending too long on a decision can actually lead us into making the very wrong decision.

According to Elizabeth Rion, a psychologist, “one way of beginning to understand our inner voice is by trusting it. We mostly make mistakes when we doubt what our inner voice is trying to tell us and try to downplay it. Our inner voice is like an inner strength. The more we use it, the stronger it gets”. She also says our inner voice is the best friend we can ever have in life. It tells you what no other will tell as not to hurt your feelings, “so called friends will always try to add a little sweetener to whatever they might tell you so that they do not hurt your feelings but your inner voice tells you as it is no matter the situation”

Sometimes listening to your inner voice makes life much smoother and less stressful. The more you choose not to listen to your inner voice the further away you drift from the realities of life and your whole life starts becoming unbalanced and the more unbalanced you become, the more prominent this inner voice keeps propping up in your mind trying to alert you of the dangers ahead and the available possible ways out. Your inner voice never abandons you no matter the circumstances unlike your worldly human friends.

Listening to our inner voice is all about trusting it, trusting what we are being told to do is for our own best interest. Come to think of it, has your inner spirit ever told you to do some negative things at your own detriment? Even if you had the intention to do something negative, it will always try to talk you out of it. Trusting our inner voice is a challenge for many of us to master and understand that we are not totally in control. Yes, we are not because once we choose to listen to our inner voice, we are trusting it and somehow, surrendering our control to it and by so doing, one will see miraculous changes in life.
