The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has asked the Ibadan High-Chiefs to ensure the traditional institution of Ibadanland is reverted to its original concept.
The governor stated this during his condolence visit to the widow and family of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, at the Popo Yemoja Palace in Ibadan.

Daily Trust reports that controversy has been trailing the enthronement of a new Olubadan.
Makinde said; “This should be the last time there will be a controversy on the next person who will ascend the throne of Olubadan of Ibadanland.”
“I have heard enough on the controversy surrounding who or who is not next to be installed as Olubadan of Ibadanland and other narratives around the matter.
“So, let me state it clearly that Ibadan’s traditional institution must revert to its original concept. This must be the last time there will be controversy on who succeeds the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The governor assured all indigenes and lovers of Ibadan that his administration would “do what is right to preserve the integrity and sanctity of the traditional institution of Ibadan land.”
