The court had on Monday jailed Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South), who stood as surety for Maina following the ex-pension boss’s absence from court on a bail bond of N500m.
But on Tuesday, Maina’s lawyer, Marcel Oru filed an appeal before the Court of Appeal in Abuja challenging the remand order of the court on the grounds of lack of fair hearing.
On the order of the court to sale the attached property at Plot 158 Cadastral Zone AO2, Asokoro in the same sum of the bail bond, Oru said that is not the immediate priority.
“We are more concerned about getting our man out first, property is secondary,” he said.
Meanwhile, the court also acceded to the application by Rep Umar Dan-Galadima, surety to the son of Maina, Faisal, who is believed to have jumped bail, for application to show cause why he would not forfeit the sum of N60m bail bond to he Federal Government.
