Technical Adviser of Wikki Tourists, Coach Abdul Maikaba has distanced himself from reports linking him to several clubs in the Nigerian Professional Football League.
Immediately the season ended, reports had it that the former Kano Pillars and Enyimba gaffer was on his way out of the club that he guided to third place finish in the just concluded NPFL season.
When contacted, the soft spoken tactician told SHOT! that his contract with Wikki Tourists will end in December so he is still the coach of the club.
He said he is therefore surprised to read and hear in the news that he is leaving Wikki Tourists.
According to him, there may be one or two issues to discuss with the club he has transformed into a formidable force in the NPFL but it is too early for anyone to say he is leaving the club.
Maikaba maintained that when the time comes, he will discuss his future with the management of the club saying he is confident there would be no problem.
“I am surprised to hear and read that I am leaving Wikki to join these clubs mentioned by those carrying the news.
“I am not aware of anything like that. My contract with Wikki is still running and it will expire in December. For now, I am still a staff of Wikki Tourists.
“When the time comes, I will discuss my future with the club management. For now there is nothing more for me to say. I am with Wikki Tourists as we speak,” he said.
Maikaba is linked with his former club, Kano Pillars and newly promoted Gombe United.
