Maikaba bemoans Enugu Rangers floundering NPFL season

Enugu Rangers manager, Abdul Maikaba has lamented the poor form of his side so far this season.

The Flying Antelopes were held to a 1-1 draw at the Awka City Stadium on Sunday by their visitors, the Lobi Stars of Makurdi.

Lobi took the lead around the hour mark thanks to Elijah Ani’s goal, but Godwin Obaje saved a point with an equaliser 18 minutes from time.

Following the current loss, the Antelopes have now gone two league games without a win and have only scored eight goals in the NPFL this season.

Speaking on his side’s performance, the former Akwa United boss noted that the Antelopes only have themselves to blame after forcing a share of the spoils at home.

“We have to blame ourselves for this result,” Maikaba told the club media.

“In a game, we created over ten goal scoring opportunities but scored only one while the opponent created one and scored from it.

“It is our problem. But we are working seriously to see that we rectify all these issues.

“We can continue to fight from this result and improve in the coming games to ensure that we move up the log,” he said.

The poor run of form leaves the Flying Antelopes seventh on the table with seven points in Group B with just three wins from 12 games.

Meanwhile, the abandoned game between Remo Stars and Gombe United ended 0-0.

It will be recalled that the game was called off on Sunday night after the match officials refused to come out from the dressing room for the second half.

The match officials reportedly took the decision after they were assaulted in the dressing room.
